Logo for GIS DayDelaware will celebrate GIS Day (November 18, 2009) with a day of field trip opportunities for Delaware students and an evening open house for the public. Both events will be held at the Air Mobility Command Museum, in Dover.

During the day, groups of Delaware fifth-grade students will visit the museum and enjoy a variety of activities focused on GIS data and tools, GPS, geography and navigation. Plans include an Earth Balloon, a flight simulator, a geography game show and more. The GeoEducation in Delaware committee has reached out to Delaware schools to invite them to sign up for the event.

From 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., the event will become a GIS Day open house, at which the public at large can visit many of the same activities at the Museum.

Delaware’s GIS Day organizers are looking for volunteers from the Delaware GIS Community to help out. If you are interested, please contact Megan Nehrbas.
