The statewide municipal boundaries dataset has been updated by the Office of State Planning Coordination. This update is not to the geometry of the various boundaries, though those updates do occur on a regular basis. This update is to the layout of the file and the attributes that are included.

Those data sets are available from the Census Bureau’s FTP site and on the new American FactFinder. We have started to explore that data and create Delaware-specific data products.

Data sets available include public school and private school locations, school district boundaries and vocational/technical school district information. Attribute information includes names of principals, school phone numbers, school web site URLs and other useful information.
Data Update: USDA Offers NAIP Via ArcGIS Server
Friday, May 7th, 2010 by mike.mahaffieThe USDA’s National Agriculture Imagery Program (NAIP) orthos are available as an ArcGIS Map Service. They can be accessed at http://gis.apfo.usda.gov/arcgis/services.
This service includes both color and infrared imagery for all of the 48 continental United States. There are several different services that also show the status of different year collection of NAIP imagery. The Delaware imagery, for example, was collected in 2009, by Sanborn, at (I believe) 1-meter resolution and using a digital camera.
I understand that the service is KML-enabled, but not WMS-enabled.

The Delaware Municipal Boundaries data set and the Completed Annexations data set have been updated to reflect new annexations.
The attribute information of the municipal boundaries data set has also been updated with corrected URLs for municipal web sites and municipal comprehensive plans.
The Delaware Office of State Planning Coordination maintains both the statewide municipal boundaries data set and the completed annexations data set as part of its regular review of annexation proposals under the Plan of Services process.

Delaware’s Soils Data Are Now Complete!

Delaware’s soils maps are now complete, statewide, and available on-line.
The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), along with local, state and federal conservation partners, has completed the updated soil survey of New Castle County, completing the state, according to Assistant State Soil Scientist Diane Shields.
DataMIL Update

The Delaware DataMIL has been updated with new version of the municipal boundaries data as well as with updated county “community” data, which are used to show place names for subdivisions and other areas.
All of these layers have been updated in the MapLab, the DE_Featureservice map service, and the data download section as well as the map service that feeds the Delaware portion of the national map for the federal government’s geospatial Onestop (GOS) service.
The updated datas ets are current as of October 2009.
2009 TIGER Shapefiles Released
Friday, October 2nd, 2009 by mike.mahaffieThe US Census Bureau has released the 2009 version of TIGER in shapefile format. The data are available by county and by state. (The Delaware files are found here) This is said to be the last release of TIGER data before the 2010 Census and appears to include some of the geographic updates for 2010. The next release, in 2011, will include all of the geographic updates for the 2010 Census and will be followed by the tabular data from the Census itself.
