A draft agenda (PDF) is now posted for the June 9 meeting of the Delaware Geographic Data Committee (DGDC). The agenda includes subcommittee reports, discussion of a 2011 orthophotography project, and discussion on the RAMONA GIS Inventory. The meeting will start at 9:00 a.m. in Room 220 of the Kent County Administration Building, at 555 Bay Road (Route 113), in Dover. All are welcome.
Public data used in blogger's analysis
I don’t pretend to have the technical knowledge to fully understand the analysis, but I was intrigued to find the Delaware DataMIL and New Castle County’s ParcelView cited as data sources on a blog post by The Honest Hypocrite yesterday.
In his post “Crypto-Catholics – Sun Worshippers at the Winter Solstice?“, blogger Richard, from Wilmington, analyzes the positioning of his church, Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic church at Shipley and Weldin Roads, to try to determine whether or not it is intentionally aligned with the sunrise at Winter Solstice.
The Delaware DataMIL has been updated with new version of the municipal boundaries data as well as with updated county “community” data, which are used to show place names for subdivisions and other areas.
All of these layers have been updated in the MapLab, the DE_Featureservice map service, and the data download section as well as the map service that feeds the Delaware portion of the national map for the federal government’s geospatial Onestop (GOS) service.
The updated datas ets are current as of October 2009.
