A small library of 2010 Census data products is starting to grow in Delaware. The Census Bureau released Delaware’s redistricting data earlier this week. Those data sets are available from the Census Bureau’s FTP site and on the new American FactFinder. We have started to explore that data and create Delaware-specific data products.

Delaware’s Census State Data Center program will offer a Census Data Workshop on January 14 to provide training on 2010 Census data, data from the American Community Survey (ACS), the American FactFinder, and other data resources from the US Census Bureau. It will be held on Friday, January 14, from 9:00 a.m. to noon, in Room 220 of the Kent County Administration Building, at 555 Bay Road (Route 113), in Dover. The workshop is free and open to all those who are interested, though space limitations may come into play. Pre-registration is required.
The Philadelphia Regional Census Center (RCC) is now accepting applications for geographic specialists. The Census Bureau is looking for staff to help out with a variety of geographic operational tasks related to the decennial Census.
The positions are temporary, but will give one in-depth knowledge of Census operations, especially about Census collection and tabulation geography. And that knowledge might be of value when the Bureau is looking to hire GIS folks in the future.
