The statewide municipal boundaries dataset has been updated by the Office of State Planning Coordination. This update is not to the geometry of the various boundaries, though those updates do occur on a regular basis. This update is to the layout of the file and the attributes that are included.

Those data sets are available from the Census Bureau’s FTP site and on the new American FactFinder. We have started to explore that data and create Delaware-specific data products.
The Delaware Geospatial Data Exchange is Now Live

Delaware’s GIS community now has a spot on the web dedicated to sharing geospatial data and metadata. The Delaware Geospatial Data Exchange is a simple catalog site for data discovery and data sharing. It is part of the Delaware Department of Technology and Information (DTI) enterprise GIS initiative, which helps support the use and sharing of GIS data and tools in Delaware.
The Geospatial Data Exchange was demonstrated to the GIS Community at the quarterly meeting of the Delaware Geographic Data Committee (DGDC) on December 9. Members of the DGDC Technical Infrastructure Subcommittee have been working with DTI on the project for some time. Delaware’s GIS professionals have been asked to start adding their data, and/or their metadata, to the site.
Data Update: Municipal Boundaries

The Delaware Municipal Boundaries data set and the Completed Annexations data set have been updated to reflect new annexations.
The attribute information of the municipal boundaries data set has also been updated with corrected URLs for municipal web sites and municipal comprehensive plans.
The Delaware Office of State Planning Coordination maintains both the statewide municipal boundaries data set and the completed annexations data set as part of its regular review of annexation proposals under the Plan of Services process.
2010 Statistical Abstract of the US

The Bureau’s news release focuses on findings within the Abstract about text messaging, the state of the newspaper industry and other items of current topical interest, but the Abstract contains a great many useful tables and stats about the nation, states and, in a few cases, counties and cities.
It’s a good document to add to your bookmarks.
